Description |
"Factors' Walk - Historic Landmark in Savannah" Verso: "Factors' Walk is a network of iron and concrete bridgeways liking top (sic) of a high bluff with entrances to buildings. Beneath, leading to Savannah River (sic), are streets and runways paved with cobblestones brought to this country a century ago as ballast in holds of sailing vessels which had been dumped ashore by arriving ships. These walls were built by slave labor using cobblestones and stone black." This color postcard depicts Factors' Walk from below. |
